Dedz Na Si Jess, Part 1
by allancarreon on Aug.24, 2017, under Film & TV, Queer, Travel & Culture
Some time last week, I saw some outraged comments on a post about the dark comedy film Patay Na Si Hesus (Jesus Is Dead), with folks crying sacrilege and blasphemy (or, in one case, “blastfemy,” true story). Never mind that these folks have not watched the movie and have probably not watched the trailer, either. The moral outrage was both funny and sad given that the movie is in no way related to Jesus Christ (except for an allusion here and there) and that the titular “Hesus” is actually the name of the main character’s ex-husband.
Of course, the makers knew what they were doing when they went with the title because not only is it catchy and very reflective of the irreverent humor that the film utilizes, it also triggers something visceral in this Catholic-majority country. And it worked.
But I expected nothing less from the genius people behind such fantastic breakout hits like That Thing Called Tadhana and Zombadings.
What About Us?

Pink is back, and once again, she proves that she is greater than many of her peers as well as the current new generation of pop/rock artists. Not only does she come up with a very stirring and passionate new song, but she highlights some very relevant themes around minorities in this day and age. Absolutely amazing.
I so would watch this mash-up.

It’s just absolute gold.
Monday Thirst

So Cosmo posted a throwback last Monday, and all I can say is that this is a throwback that should be… thrown back every Monday. Or more frequently.
Happy week ahead!
Delaying Tactics

Despite having been scheduled for interpellation numerous times, the Anti-Discrimination Bill still remains pending in the legislative.
And why is this so?
Certain members of the Senate have deliberately caused the delays.
One particular senator, in fact, has even had the gall to proclaim that he is an ally of the LGBT community. He used us for PR by posting on his Facebook, during Pride Month, that he supported us. And yet, to this very day, every time the bill is scheduled for interpellation, he leaves and/or disappears. The most recent one, I’m told, is that he disappeared but was discovered to have just been in the lounge. Such a blatant display of abuse of power is disgusting.
Heel, Boys!

And speaking of Britain’s Got Talent, here’s another throwback from a few years ago that’s sure to get you pumped up for the weekend ahead, heels and all.
Have a sassy Saturday!
When talk show hosts have more chutzpah…

… than their president.
It’s 2017. Nazism has no place in the here and now. There’s a reason why World War 2 happened and why the world shut down Hitler.
Yes, there is a wrong and right side of history. Don’t find yourself on the wrong one.
Fillet O’ Girls

Talk about amazing. These fantastic ladies may as well have have been deboned, seeing as how utterly flexible their bodies are. Just when you think they can’t go into another impossible position, they just… do. And even more. It’s like watching living marionettes take the stage, if living marionettes decided they had no joints.

Happy birthday to the one and only Madonna, my queen!
A Gag of Thrones
by allancarreon on Aug.15, 2017, under Film & TV, Snark
Speaking of hilarious Game of Thrones videos, I just remembered some gems from Seth Meyers and Jimmy Kimmel. They’re pretty much throwbacks at this point, but these gags are definitely still hilarious.
I will never get tired of watching Kit Harington. He can just sit there, staring into space and doing nothing, and I will watch him. If he mumbles anything at all with his British accent, I will throw myself at him in wild abandon.
