Itaguyod!

Yesterday was Metro Manila’s Pride March 2017.

The LGBT community converged in Marikina’s Plaza De Los Alcaldes, where the fabulous organizers of this year’s event had prepared a great pre-march program – which included an appearance by one of our strongest allies, Senator Risa Hontiveros.

Then, underneath the afternoon post-summer heat, we marched and held aloft our pride for who we are and held aloft our resolve to fight for what we believe in: fundamental equal rights for all.

Let the beauty of solidarity, togetherness, and sense of community that we captured through our cameras speak for itself.

This is Us.

This is Pride.

Pride Minister

As though we needed yet another reason to fall madly in love with him, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made history by being the first leader of their country to join their Pride Parade.

Justin, who is a staunch LGBT supporter and who has won our hearts not just by smiling but also by being open, progressive, and able to summarize quantum computing at the snap of a finger, makes it even better by reiterating that a leader joining the Pride Parade is just how it should be and shouldn’t be a big deal.

Drag and Dance

My friends and I haven’t gone clubbing in years. At the risk of sounding ancient, yes, it’s because nowadays we’ve decided we prefer a quiet night-out over coffee or a chatty night-in watching movies while drinking. This is not to say we never went clubbing; we were practically rooted to the concrete streets of Orosa back in the glory days of the now-dead Malate scene.

(Aaah, yes, New York Cafe… and Bed… and Mint… and Piggy’s… oooh-la-la… that very dark second floor dance area… mmm…)
