Queer
True Colors
by allancarreon on Oct.03, 2016, under Music & Theater, Queer
This is a few years old, but it’s still absolutely touching. This collaboration of YouTube personalities in support of the Trevor Project shows to me that there is still hope in this world and that LGBT youth still have folks who believe in them.
Subtext Becomes Text
by allancarreon on Oct.01, 2016, under Geeky, Queer, Society
Recently, current Wonder Woman comic book writer Greg Rucka (who also had an acclaimed run on a prior volume of the book in the 2000s) gave an interview wherein he basically confirmed that Wonder Woman is “queer.”
Of course, this made the rounds of social media, with a fairly good number of people praising the revelation. It is, after all, the natural progression for a character who has been seen as an icon for the LGBT community for the longest time and whose very roots are intimately tied to queerness.
As expected, however, a predictable subset of society that is ignorant at best and homophobic at worst also had their rant say. Negative reactions I’ve read ranged from the comparatively-mellow-yet-simplistic, “But she’s always been straight!” to the hysterical-and-simultaneously-moronic, “Why are we promoting porn in comic books for kids? Think of the children!”
Shooting Your Homophobia Down
by allancarreon on Sep.30, 2016, under Queer, Society
Just because I’m in the mood and am tired of having to debunk various moronic statements every time the topic comes up, let me shoot down the common arguments of anti-gay and anti-same sex marriage simpletons.
This way, I don’t have to repeat myself; I can just point them in this direction.
1. “It’s not natural.” The animal kingdom is full of species that have documented homosexual behavior. But obviously, we shouldn’t let science and facts get in the way of our preconceived prejudices.
Babaylan at 24
by allancarreon on Sep.18, 2016, under My Life, Queer, Society
Last night, I attended Babaylan Night, celebrating the 24th anniversary of UP Babaylan. As an alumnus of this trailblazing LGBT organization and a member of its alumni NGO (Babaylanes, Inc.), I am proud of all that the group has achieved in the past quarter of a century.
It was also great to have seen old friends once again and to have met a few new ones, both founders as well as newbies.
Ah, Pietro.

If at this point in time you have not heard of Pietro Boselli – that perfect Italian male specimen who is both an underwear a fashion model and a Doctor of Engineering, not to mention a former math lecturer – then I worry for you, darling.
The twenty-something gorgeous man went viral last year, and with good reason.
Just look at him.
Krum to Daddy!

Thanks to the wonders of the internet, I have rediscovered one of my favorite, how shall I put this delicately, lesser-known actors, Stanislav Yanevski. He’s best known for his role as Viktor Krum in Harry Potter and, uhmm, that…
… that guy who gets eaten in Hostel 2.
Although he hasn’t done much acting, he still occasionally makes appearances in conventions and such, and he seems pretty active on social media.
And he loves traveling, especially on his motorbike.
We are thankful…

Shirtless and Spanish
by allancarreon on Aug.20, 2016, under Film & TV, Queer
I kind of feel dirty for lusting after this gorgeous Spanish actor while I watched him play a saint in Ignacio De Loyola just last week.
But seriously: just look at him.
And it doesn’t help that Andreas Muñoz spent a good part of the film shirtless.
Screencaps of which I have not seen on the internet.
Sacrilege!
Ah, well, thankfully, I’m not Catholic.
Birth of the Goddess
by allancarreon on Aug.16, 2016, under Music & Theater, Queer
I’ve already said quite a lot about the one and only goddess, the living legend, a true diva and icon – and how much she has inspired me throughout the decades.
So today, I will keep it simple, celebrate, and just say…
Irresponsible and Dangerous Privilege
by allancarreon on Aug.12, 2016, under Queer, Society
There is absolutely no excuse to The Daily Beast’s stunt of an “article” – an article that ultimately served no true journalistic purpose.
Their faux-journalist – a straight white privileged male named Nico Hines – wrote an article that was, as The Slate perfectly put it, “sleazy, dangerous, and wildly unethical.” In it, Hines wrote about going on Tinder and Grindr as he wandered through the Olympic Village in Rio; he zero’ed in on Grindr (because, you know, gays are more promiscuous), then proceeded to out several gay athletes he met through the dating app.
Oh, he didn’t name them directly. No, that would be wrong. He only proceeded to describe them in detail, including their statistics, their events, and their goddamn nationalities. Because, you know, Google doesn’t exist, and no one would ever figure out who these people are.
