Get Ghost, Part 1

Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates and Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert are ostensibly the main stars of the Ghostbusters ensemble, if only because the work of the characters was the root of the entire enterprise and their old friendship is the emotional core of the film. They also acted as the de facto leaders of the group when it became fully-formed, if only because Holtmann was mostly interested in building machines (oh, there go those misogynists’ heads exploding at the thought that a woman is actually capable of engineering) and Tolan was a non-science outsider who just joined later on.

Get Ghost, Part 1

Ghostbusters pays great respect to its predecessor while making its own distinct mark.

All naysayers who booed the movie without even seeing it just because the leads are all women can just kiss some ectoplasmic ass. We pay them no heed.

Bustin’ Makes Me Feel Good.

The new Ghostbusters movie has been the subject of much misogynistic controversy since the all-female cast was announced last year. Misogynistic morons deserve this.

The Holtz

In honor of my favorite Ghostbuster of the new era – Jillian Holtzmann – here are some Kate McKinnon classics, including the Pantene parody where I first noticed her.

Kate is such a talented chameleon and is the best part of the reboot, followed by Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth. (Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig were also great, but those first three are just such riots.)

Kate deserves more projects. I anticipate – nay, demand more DeBarging Holtzmann in the sequel.

Yes, I have a girl crush.

Chris and Chris

I have newfound respect (and love) for both Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine.

Both A-list leading Hollywood men, they willingly accepted work as second fiddle to women.

I’d hire him. Wouldn’t you?

Hemsworth is currently in the Ghostbusters remake/reboot, which has stirred some controversy because of its all-female lineup. When the cast was announced last year, misogynists everywhere came out of the woodwork to decry the film without having even seen it – pretending that the anger is borne out of the “raping of their childhoods” (seriously) when in fact their issue is that four women not Angelina Jolie or Milla Jovovich would be kicking asses in an action/adventure film.
